Charles F. Swigert
1862 - 1935

Civil engineer, founder of the first Electric Steel Foundry west of the Mississippi (now ESCO Corp.). He became owner of the Pacific Bridge Co. and helped build major dams and bridges (i.e. Golden Gate and Bay) that enabled the West to flourish. Also served as president of the Port of Portland Commission and as director of the City & Suburban Railway Co. Took ESCO to a position as a leading supplier of earthmoving wear parts and attachments.
