Machines of the Construction Equipment Industry

Backhoe-Loader
Cost: $13,000 - $150,000
Weight: 2,650 lb. - 25,900 lb.
Maximum Digging Depth: 21 feet

One of the workhorses of the construction industry, backhoe-loaders are named for their two prominent features: a loading bucket at one end and a backhoe at the other. The backhoe is used to dig; the loading bucket can either carry dirt, gravel, sand or other materials, or it can be used to push dirt back into the hole created by the backhoe. Technicians need to understand the physics of hydraulics and basic electronics to properly maintain and repair backhoe-loaders.
